Dwell Development receives Housing Innovation Award for their Genesee Park project from the U.S. Department of Energy.

The DOE Housing Innovation Awards recognize the nation’s leading builders who are delivering a superior homeowner experience to American homebuyers and Zero Energy Ready Homes.

The US Department of Energy gave Dwell Development a Housing Innovation Awards in the Custom (Spec) category for their Genesee Park project at the 2018 Housing Innovation Awards.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Building Technologies Office (BTO) announced the winners of the 2018 Zero Energy Ready Home Housing Innovation Awards in August. This year’s awards recognize 27 homes from 23 builders from across the country. Grand Winners in each of the five award categories will be announced at the 2018 Housing Innovation Awards Ceremony on October 16, 2018 in San Diego, California.

The five award categories are as follows:

  • Custom Buyer: Custom home built for a specific buyer
  • Custom Spec: Custom home built on speculation rather than pre-ordered
  • Production: Homes reproduced with standard plans
  • Multifamily: A building with more than two dwelling units
  • Affordable: A home built to an affordable price point

Since 2013, the DOE Housing Innovation Awards have honored the very best in innovation on the path to zero energy ready homes by recognizing builders delivering American homebuyers a superior homeowner experience. DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes represent a new level of home performance, with rigorous requirements that ensure energy savings, comfort, health and durability.

To qualify for the Housing Innovation Awards, homes must meet Zero Energy Ready Home program requirements. Applications are judged by an esteemed panel of national experts from across the building industry with images of the home, floor plans, and documentation of Zero Energy Ready Home verification. Judges score each application based on various criteria including energy performance metrics, land development, design, quality construction, sales and marketing, consumer education, and business metrics.

The 2018 winners are posted on the Housing Innovation Awards website. Check out winning designs from previous years on the DOE Tour of Zero website.
